THE PROJECT

The Jumbo Jubilee—one of Jumbo Maritime's specialized heavy-lift vessels—conducted a three-day cargo offloading operation at the TMA Terminal in the **Port of Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Netherlands.

Portside Media captured the complete operation: vessel arrival at the Port of IJmuiden, crane setup, multi-ton cargo lifts and final cargo removal.

Scope:

  • Drone operations documenting vessel arrival, positioning, and aerial crane perspectives

  • Ground-level film production capturing cargo handling sequences and operational coordination

  • Professional photography library of cargo types, lifts, and terminal operations

  • Continuous time-lapse systems compressing three days into visual narrative

THE CHALLENGE

Active Heavy-Lift Environment

Filming coordinated around continuous crane operations, cargo movements, and ground crews. Every camera position and drone flight required real-time coordination with terminal operators, crane teams, and vessel crew—maintaining safety while capturing key operational moments.

Controlled Airspace Coordination

Port of Amsterdam operates within Schiphol Airport's controlled airspace, requiring EASA flight authorization and port authority coordination. Drone operations planned around:

  • Active crane swing radii and boom movements

  • Terminal vehicle traffic and logistics coordination

  • Operational schedules driven by cargo sequencing

  • Real-time adjustments as offloading progressed

Multi-Day Operational Scheduling

Three-day documentation adapted to cargo offloading sequences determined by vessel stability calculations, crane availability, and weather conditions. Filming windows followed operational priorities—not ideal lighting or production preferences.

DELIVERABLES

Visual Documentation:

  • Edited video of entire three-day operation (vessel arrival → offloading sequences → completion)

  • Professional photography archive covering all cargo lifts and operational phases

  • 90-second time-lapse compilation compressing three days into visual narrative

  • Aerial drone perspectives of vessel positioning and crane operations

  • Ground-level sequences capturing cargo handling and terminal coordination

Multi-Format Content:

  • 4-minute summary film for client presentations and commercial use

  • 250+ professional photographs organized by operational phase

  • High-resolution archive for Jumbo Maritime communications and stakeholder use

  • Complete raw footage library for future client applications

Operational Coordination:

  • EASA Specific Category authorization for controlled airspace operations

  • Port of Amsterdam authority clearances and terminal access coordination

  • Daily safety briefings and vessel/terminal protocol compliance

  • Real-time communication with crane operators and vessel crew during filming

THE RESULT

Jumbo Maritime received complete visual documentation of a complex heavy-lift operation at Port of Amsterdam—captured across three days without operational delays or safety incidents.

The content delivered professional-grade film, photography, and time-lapse documentation suitable for client presentations, commercial marketing, stakeholder communications, and operational archives.

Zero disruption to cargo offloading schedules. Complete coordination with vessel crew, terminal operators, and port authority throughout active heavy-lift operations.
